AJFC Team Pinas Kids Bagged Silver and Bronze in Munich
Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) Global Edition celebrated its 10th year last August 27 to 31, 2018 at Munich, Germany which comprised of kids ages 14 to 16 years old. there were 56 kids from Allianz entities coming from Argentina, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and other countries. Our Philippine representatives Juan Miguel Basmayor and Catherine Angelica Bradborn nailed silver and bronze medals at a tournament held at Säbener Straße on the last day of the five-day camp.
"The kids at the camp were very competitive. They all played to make their country proud. But I had to make sure that despite our cultural differences and the language barrier we understand each other. We speak the same language when it comes to football, now plays for de La Salle Zobel.
"I am only new in the game unlike Basma, but my advantage as a goal keeper is my height. I have not seen girls who play football with the same height," said Bradborn, 16 year old, Filipina-British player who stands at 5'9" tall. Bradborn is a rookie FROM Pampanga and plays for Luenthai Football Club.
Ivy Tapiz is our third representative from Dipolog, won the camp's Robotics activity. Amongst all the delegates, Ivy's robot was chosen and will be launched in the stratosphere by German Astronaut Gerhard Thiele.
"We are so proud of our AFJC kids, because they were leading their teams in the camp. Their team members were relying on them," said Bernadette Pantoja, Allianz PNB Vice President for Bancassurance Distribution Partner Head - HSBC, who coached the kids during their stay in the camp. "Prior to the tournament, the players attended the three training sessions in theory and practice, which was led by World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler, whose 15-year career playing for FC Bayern Munich led to seven Bundesliga titles," added Pantoja.
Basmayor, Bradborn, and Tapiz had their best experience. They got to see their idols like world champion Corentin Tolisso, Thomas Müller and long-serving Bayern Captain Oliver Kahn. Other highlights of the camp was a talk with Bastian Schweinsteiger and a live game match at the Allianz Arena , where they watched the live football match between FC Bayern and Chicago Fire. They also learned to 'trust', build 'confidence' and make a 'change' – how to have a ggod association with others, new tricks in football and never give up. Their advise to other kids who want to pursue their dreams is to learn how to manage your time with sports and studies.
