Image
It is always an overwhelming feeling when I get an invitation for an event like this. The Maya Kitchen Culinary Elite Series by no other than the famous, charming, accommodating and one of the greatest chefs in the Philippines, chef Jessie Sincioco. Now, she's back at The Maya Kitchen where she won the grand prize in the baking category of The Great Maya Cookfest in 1983. Chef Jessie mentioned that no matter how busy, she can't say no to where she started , her passport to culinary world . Chef Jessie is also blessed to be chosen to prepare the food for the pontiff when he came here in the Philippines last year.  She also brought her aunt and introduced to all of us, her greatest influencer in baking, who raised her since she was nine years old.  This is the first time that I saw chef in person and I can see her professionalism, and her feet stayed on the ground even after earning multiple prestigious awards and became a premier restaurateur.  Chef Jessie is now t...

Colgate-Palmolive Philippines celebrates 90 years of operations in the country, providing generations of Filipinos with quality brands for oral care, personal care and home care such as Colgate, Palmolive, Tender Care, Gard, Axion and Ajax. The Palmolive Company Philippines was established in 1926 with an office in the Binondo district of Manila with just five employees. Products sold during those days included Pompeia cosmetics, Octagon laundry powder and Crystal White laundry bar. It merged with Peet Brothers the following year and with Colgate Company in 1928. Popular products such as Colgate Ribbon dental cream and Cashmere Bouquet toiletries were added to the product range along with Palmolive soaps, pushing accelerated growth for the next few years. Products at that time were delivered to stores by carabao or horse-drawn carts. In 1941, during World War II, invading soldiers sealed the office and looted the warehouse. Loyal employees were instructed by their impr...

Fill Your Home with Love, Raise your Child a Hero

Image
As a mom, I believe that education begins at home. Whatever it is that we learned from home is what usually reflects in us. I remember when I was a kid, my mom always tell us to do good and share what we have. Doing good to others is what I also teach to my children. The values that I learned during my childhood is what I also teach my kids. Although, we cannot see what our children is doing when they're out of the house, I never stop reminding them. This is the story of Efren Peñaflorida,, and how his mom filled their home with loving guidance. As a result, Efren overcame childhood challenges and grew up with a heart for others.  Efren lived in a community that had street gangs, and as a kid, he would often choose to fight back. There were also moments when he'd be uninterested in dong his school work because he'd get so immersed in the gang culture. Seeing that Efren was starting to turn into a problem child out in the streets, his Mom taught him to fight pov...

I Found Something Special with Alaska Créma

Image
It's the time of the year when we think and plan of cooking and baking for our friends, co-workers and families. We love cooking special Filipino dishes or international cuisines. It is now a trend in our kitchen to explore new recipes and create our own fusion. Whether it's an appetizer, entree, dips, main dish or dessert, it's always a big challenge to try something new for a change. Sauces for me is quite not easy to prepare. I want something different to achieve a supreme gastronomic recipe this Christmas. Cooking & baking is what we love doing at home. When I went to the Alaska Merry Crémas Food Fest 2016 last November 6 at the Trinoma Activity Center, I was amazed with all the creations made using Alaska Crémas. More than 30 food concessionaires participated and showcased their various specialties. It is really exciting to taste all their food samples, because it boosts my mind and creativity as well. These are all taste bud tickling!  All the b...
