International Coastal Cleanup Environmental Summit 2018: Youth Empowerment

Image
The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), a global movement celebrated yearly on the 3rd day of September, with more than 100 countries participating worldwide including the Philippines, as they bring together the community towards a common objective of collecting and documenting the trash littering the coastline. Due to a growing need to address this issue of marine litter and beach cleanup alone is not enough , they also have  the ICC Environmental Summit, a supplement to the annual beach cleanup that took place from September 27 to September 28 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC).  The Philippines ranked #1 in 2017 with the highest number of volunteers and sad to say, the country is ranked #3 as the biggest dumper of plastics in the ocean. Plastic debris remains a budding concern in the marine environment, according to the Ocean Trash Index, the world's largest item-by-item, location-by-location database of trash found in the near-shore environmen

Image
The Extra Extra Ordinary presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) in partnership with the Taipei Contemporary Art Center (TCAC), curated by Joselina Cruz and Esther Lu, is an extra ordinary work of art that I have never seen before. At a first glace, it is a mystery that will make you think what kind of concept it is—mind-boggling and interesting. The printer and lights for example, is puzzling and brought curiosity to all of us. The printers set on a wall and at the other side, you'll see different kinds of lamp that are blinking from one set to another and I was wondering why these lights are not simultaneous, like it's following a pattern. The printer and lights is a computer language and that's what makes them trigger the lights. They built a software to filter certain hashtags in Twitter. It prints a software into the space that collect future data based on specific hashtag that they set. Once it's working, the set the hasht

My two girls and I were so excited to see the musical retelling of the childhood classic that has new characters with their own mysterious stories – the evil would-be queen, a handsome prince, a determined hairstylist, a lovable dragon, and the princess with a famous head of hair – intersecting at just the right comical—and heartwarming—moments, directed by Joy Virata.
