Halili Cruz School of Ballet
July 18, 2016 - Mom, dads, aunt, uncles with kids were invited to attend a free session at the Halili Cruz School of Ballet in Quezon City. All are excited to see the ballet dancers perform and for the free lesson!
The school was established in 1988 by Shirley Halili-Cruz to provide a place where aspiring artists can put an edge to their craft, popularize the art of ballet and cultivate professionalism among its members.
"Ballet Education is far more than just producing a ballerina as dancer as it is intended to arm students with discipline, creativity, initiative, perseverance, patience, and high self-esteem that will make them better artists and the best people they can be,"
SHIRLEY HALILI-CRUZ
Artistic Director
Halili Cruz School of Ballet
Quezon City Ballet
Ballet was introduced to all parents and kids and learned some basics. All ballet teachers are homegrown and the school has a curriculum for every level. It is not just dancing, they also have an oral and written examination with practical evaluation.
Shirley Halili-Cruz authored a syllabus for each level:
- 5-level Baby Ballet Syllabus
- 12 level Classical Ballet Syllabus
The school is awarded as the "Most Outstanding Ballet School in Asia" from 2000 to present. It has successfully represented the Philippines in different international festivals and competitions in different countries around the globe.
It is a great pride of the Philippines that the Halili-Cruz School of Ballet will be joining the 18th Asia Pacific Dance Competition on August 180-21, 2016 at the Sands Casino Theater in Macau, China. The competition is attended by considerable number of students from across the Pacific region: Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Macau and Australia, who were all internationally accredited by the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). The Asia Pacific Dance Competition is the most reputable annual event by CSTD for 18 consecutive years. HCSB will be bringing 75 dancers and will be presenting 40 entries originally choreographed by the HCSB choreographers.
