Money for Life, for a brighter future
So, when I heard about this financial literacy advocacy of Sun Life, I immediately accepted the invitation to attend the said event. Whether we accept it or not, here in the Philippines, a lot of us are not knowledgeable enough about investment. It is time for us to learn about being responsible for our future. Who doesn't want to be just relaxing and enjoying our retirement? Of course, all of us! Not just about retirement, we have to open our eyes to be always ready for anything that comes. Saving in our piggy bank, which I still do, or bank savings is not enough. It is not just about planning or thinking about savings, but we have to take actions!
I was enlightened that with just Php 5,000.00 I could start planning for a brighter future! Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. is a top ranked and longest-standing life insurance company in the Philippines and now they're aiming to serve five million clients by year 2020 under its new five-year growth plan dubbed "Rise PH".
"Despite the bright prospects that the country's economy has, prosperity still hasn't trickled down to the more disadvantaged sectors of society. We have to address this," Sunlife President and CEO Riza Mantaring said. " Sun Life would like to see more Filipinos looking forward to a brighter future and the whole country rising to greater heights. I definitely agree with her! It feels really good to see the good future of Filipinos, because I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, relative and a friend. I know how hard life can be, especially in times of need and emergency. I've been through a lot of financial distress and I've seen some friends and relatives who experienced the same.
Mylene Lopa, Chief marketing Officer, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) discussed more about family financial issues and about the company's goals and initiatives which will be launched under "Rise PH" that I see would be beneficial for all Filipinos. I now have more understanding in coping with daily finances. It was explained thoroughly that as we go through life, our needs & goals change which is true. I took down notes to make it as a reminder and guide. I am sharing here what I have learned during the talk.
