Global Wellness Day

It is the first time that I have heard about the Global Wellness Day. It answers our question about not having a special global day dedicated to what is really valuable to us, which is our health. We all want to be physically and spiritually healthy and it is good to know that Global Wellness Day "now exists."

Global Wellness Day is now being celebrated on the second Saturday of June as an international day dedicated to living well, with the slogan "One day can change your whole life."

I am happy that I was invited to join the Global Wellness Day with my family at FTX Fitness Exchange, 2/F 3 Salcedo Place, 123 Tordesillas St., Makati City.

Main Aims of the Day:

  • To recognize the value of our lives
  • To pause and think, even if for just one day of the year
  • To be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits
  • To make peace with ourselves
  • To raise awareness about living well and increase motivation, not just for today, but for the remaining 364 days of the year
It was first celebrated in 2012 and was formed in Turkey as the first day dedicated to living well, The Global Wellness Day  is officially celebrated in 73 countries in 2015, with 86 ambassadors and is now accepted worldwide. It is entirely not-for-profit day, a social project created by volunteers dedicated to living well.

There were so much activities at the FTX Fitness Exchange that we all enjoyed! Free consultations about weight loss/gain, skin analysis, muscle imbalance, fitness Assessment and health provider. Healthway also hosted free Postural Alignment analysis.

We had a free yoga class for us to learn how to heal back, shoulder, carpal and other joints.  Then, Zumba Dance party1 There was a talk by Juana Change about her inspiring life attitude towards never-ending struggles and success with weight loss. Free facial and make-up as well.

There are seven steps manifesto in order to make wellness a lifestyle. Do at least just a few into your daily life on a regular basis in order to make Wellness a lifestyle.

7 Steps of the Global Wellness Day Manifesto
  1. Walk for an hour.
  2. Drink more water.
  3. Do not use plastic bottles.
  4. Eat organic foods.
  5. Do a good deed.
  6. Have a family dinner.
  7. Sleep at 10:00pm.
The celebration made me aware of the healthy food that we can substitute instead of eating unhealthy. There's the malunggay and calabasa pandesal, and pancit canton with mixed organic vegetables and they all tasted so good!

I also  tried using all the exercise equipments and all are easy to use that even my ten year old daughter had fun exercising with me.

On June 30 at the Mall of Asia, there is an annual National Wellness Day festivities of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), where member companies will exhibit and showcase their corporate wellness efforts with different speakers, health tests, and fitness classes for the general public to enjoy.
