Buku-Buku Kafe's Summer Ending Creativity Event

Summertime is not just about beach or travelling. Buku-Buku Kafe ones again ended summer with a big bang of support for the local creativity, Komiket: The Filipino Komiks and Art Market at SM Southmall from May 25 to 26. It's my first time to attend this kind of event where you kind find a different kind of artistry from older generation to youngsters who has proven that age doesn't matter in creativity and confidence.

Komiket South 2019, on its third year, ics Buku-Buku Kafe's biggest art market with over 80 artists from all over Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cavite, brought their stickers, art prints, comics, zines, and eco-friendly crafts to SM Southmall's Event Center. Amalgamated Specialties Corporation (AMSPEC) was there with a creative journaling workshop and the cast and crew of Cinemalaya Film ANi: The Harvest, and presented their trailer screening and how showed some parts of the film where they used an interesting technology on how the actor is seen in the film as a robot. Cool!

Representing homegrown creativity is CaviteƱo arts collective Astrolikha, who will be starting the creative convention with a talk on the southern art scene and a zine-making workshop, proceeds of which goes to Astrolikha's outreach program.

"Creativity is for everyone," said Jessica Santiago, manager and partner of Buku-Buku Kafe and Head Secretariat for Komiket South. "We want our friends here in the South to remember this, to keep creating, and to make sure they are heard."

Komiket South 2019 will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 25 and 26 at the SM Southmall Event Center. Entrance fee is free. For more information on the event workshops, exhibitors, and merch, visit fb.com/komiketinc.
